CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels are a popular and effective skincare treatment designed to improve the appearance of your skin by exfoliating and removing dead skin cells. This treatment helps to reveal fresher, smoother, and more radiant skin beneath. Whether you're dealing with acne scars, wrinkles, or uneven skin tone, chemical peels can provide significant and lasting improvements.

HOW CHEMICAL PEELS WORK

Chemical peels use a solution containing various acids to target the outer layers of the skin. Here’s how chemical peels work:

Application: A chemical solution is applied to the skin, causing it to exfoliate and eventually peel off.

Exfoliation: The acids in the peel work to break down dead skin cells and stimulate cell turnover.

Revealing New Skin: As the old skin peels away, new, healthier skin emerges, improving the overall texture and appearance.

POPULAR AREAS TO TREAT

FACE

The face is the most common area treated with chemical peels. Benefits include:

  • Reduction of Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Smooth out fine lines and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

  • Improvement in Skin Texture: Achieve smoother, more even skin texture.

  • Even Skin Tone: Reduce hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and acne scars for a more uniform complexion.

NECK

The neck area can also benefit from chemical peels by:

  • Firming and Tightening: Enhance skin firmness and elasticity.

  • Smoothing Wrinkles: Minimize the appearance of neck lines and wrinkles.

ARMS

For those with uneven skin tone or rough texture on their arms, chemical peels can:

  • Smooth Texture: Improve the overall smoothness of the skin.

  • Reduce Pigmentation: Address hyperpigmentation and sun damage.

DECOLLETAGE

The décolletage, or chest area, is prone to sun damage and aging. Chemical peels help to:

  • Reduce Sun Damage: Improve the appearance of sunspots and discoloration.

  • Smooth Skin: Address fine lines and improve skin texture.

HANDS

Hands often show signs of aging through wrinkles and pigmentation. Chemical peels can:

  • Even Skin Tone: Reduce age spots and hyperpigmentation.

  • Enhance Skin Texture: Improve the smoothness and softness of the skin.

BACK

The back is another area that can benefit from chemical peels, especially for those with acne or acne scars. Benefits include:

  • Acne Treatment: Reduce acne breakouts and improve skin clarity.

  • Scar Reduction: Minimize the appearance of acne scars and other blemishes.

BENEFITS

Improved Skin Texture: Chemical peels smooth and soften the skin, reducing rough patches and uneven texture.

Reduced Wrinkles and Fine Lines: By stimulating collagen production, chemical peels help to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Even Skin Tone: Chemical peels can effectively treat hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and acne scars, leading to a more even skin tone.

Acne and Blemish Reduction: Chemical peels help to unclog pores, reduce acne breakouts, and minimize the appearance of acne scars.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR VISIT

Consultation: Your journey with chemical peels begins with a consultation with a skincare professional. During this session, your skin type and concerns will be assessed to determine the best type of peel for your needs.

Treatment Sessions: Chemical peels can vary in strength, from light to deep. The type of peel and the number of sessions required will depend on your skin condition and desired results.

Results: After a chemical peel, you will notice an improvement in skin texture, tone, and clarity. Light peels offer subtle improvements with minimal downtime, while deeper peels provide more dramatic results but require a longer recovery period.

POST-TREATMENT CARE

IMMEDIATE AFTERCARE

Your skin will be more sensitive to the sun after a chemical peel. Protect your skin by avoiding direct sun exposure and using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

Use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to keep your skin moisturized. This helps soothe dryness and peeling.

Refrain from picking, scratching, or peeling off the skin. Allow the skin to shed naturally to avoid scarring and irritation.

FIRST FEW DAYS

Cleanse your face with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser. Avoid using hot water; instead, use lukewarm water to gently cleanse your skin.

Apply a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer multiple times a day to keep your skin hydrated and comfortable.

It is best to avoid makeup for at least 24-48 hours after the peel, or as advised by your practitioner, to prevent irritation.

Stay away from activities that cause excessive sweating, such as intense exercise, saunas, or hot showers, as sweat can irritate the treated skin.

FIRST WEEK

Wear sunscreen daily and reapply every 2 hours when exposed to the sun. Consider wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses for extra protection.

Avoid using exfoliating products, scrubs, or brushes on your skin until it is fully healed. This includes products with retinol, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid.

Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from within. Proper hydration supports the healing process.
